Labor Day fun

We went camping over Labor Day with our friends the Guille's (who stayed one night) and Logan's friend Parker. We went to Encampment, WY. It is west of Laramie and up in the mountains. This was a new spot for us and we stayed at Lazy Acres Campground. It was a great location, beautiful spots, and somewhere we'll definately go again! From Cheyenne it is only about 2 hours away. It did however, take us a little longer to get there this time. About half way there we had a tire blow out on the trailer. While Tyler and Kevin worked on changing it we sent the kids into this field and up the hill. This kept them busy and away from the highway!

Since we took longer to get to our campsite and set up it was quite dark by the time the guys got around to getting the fishing gear ready for morning. Like their nifty headlamps!!

We took our bikes and had fun riding around the campground, down to the little town park, and later on some hiking trails!

Croquet anyone?! The boys had their first experience at the very refined, docile game of croquet. Hah! Anything but with our boys (Tyler included!!). We were able to set up the game in the empty field right behind our trailer space. Most games became a race to send the others as far as you could from the wicket.

On Sunday morning we drove the truck back up to Mirror Lake and the boys tried their hands at fishing. Only Brody caught anything so they soon became bored and decided to hike to the top of the hill behind us. Tyler and I spent the morning going between the three boys putting worms on hooks, untangling lines, and casting.

Here is the little town park we found. It had an "old fashioned" merry go round which the boys thought was novel! (am I really getting that old?!). First Tyler pushed them and made them sick. Then they tried valantly to do the same to him and had no luck. Finally it was just Brody watching him go around and around.

After it got dark the boys played Stratego. Again, "What a great new game Mom!". Classic- yes, we ARE getting old! Here you can see Parker say let's move it here (Logan is his partner). Logan finally agrees and the next picture shows the results....notice Tyler laughing.

Here's the three boys on the final morning. Tyler took them up this ravine to do some "real" biking! They had a great time- I cleaned up the trailer and got it ready for the haul home.
