Champions of the Spring Swing Tournament

The boys won their tournament last weekend in CO!! They went 5-0 to win against 13 other teams. This win earned them a berth in the Triple Crown Sports World Series later this summer. It is in Steamboat Springs, CO and is national, televised, the whole enchilada! We have not decided as a team whether to go or not yet. I'll keep you posted on that!

But here's a few highlights from this tournament:

Getting the trophy

Logan pitched two no-hitter innings.

The mouth full of seeds...

Working hard at first base (notice the ball coming for the pick off)

Face full of dirt! The boy is good at stealing! For a momentum shifting play in the game they were down in: Logan came up to bat with two outs, he hit a hard grounder to second, the second baseman bobbled the ball and threw to first where one ump called Logan out and the home plate ump ruled him safe due to the first baseman's foot coming off the bag. On the next pitch Logan stole second, on the next pitch he stole third, and on the next pitch (which was a wild pitch and the catcher missed it) he stole home. That put tied the game and they ended up winning to stay alive in the tournament.

Teamwork

One brother going out to bat, one brother being the bat boy

Speaking of bat boys...

Brody "took one FROM the team"! One of the boys swung a bit prematurely on his way to the batter box and caught Brody on the nose as he came around to go retrieve the bat. Nothing serious- just a great bloody nose and a little yellow under his eyes for a couple of days. It could have been much worse!

He does tend to get a little bored by the end of the day and needed to let some of his personality show through here!

Here he is taking his job seriously and helping the batters stay in order.
